This was done by looking at the bell through a historical, evocative, and critical perspective.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Hathorn Hall is the oldest building on Bates College campus. The Bell was donated upon the $500 donation from Jonathan Davis in 1857.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><strong>We were particularly intrigued by this topic because it is a visible and audible part of campus yet we felt we did not know much about it. We hear this bell every day as it signals the beginning and ending of classes and walk past it constantly as it is in the center of campus.
