Intro to Letters

image6.jpg

The letters from Audrey and Bill Norris and the replies they received provide additional context to the narrative of Sampsonville. They are important because they are first-hand accounts of life at Sampsonville and they depict Sampson's impact on the veterans. In addition, the Norris' letters provide great insight into why Sampson was memorialized and they also include interesting details about life at Sampsonville that the other parts of the research would not have covered. The following pages will detail the letters in response to the Norris' initial request for Sampsonville narratives from individuals who lived there or knew Charles Sampson.
